Although Waitsian arguments will always rage about his greatest work, few will disagree that Tom Traubert’s Blues is Tom Waits at his booze troubadour best. And let’s face it, it takes a bone fide genius to turn the alternative Australian national anthem, Waltzing Matilda, into a masterpiece. Tom Waits is obviously just such a genius.
