“Son, She Said, Have I Got A Little Story For You”
The Who sung about it on the seminal Substitute, the Happy Monday’s sung the bitingly satirical Kinky Afro as their take on it, but unsurprisingly Seattle grunge superstars Pearl Jam took a more serious take on the subject of splintered families and produced one of the greatest anthems of the 90s into the bargain. Pearl Jam have outlasted all of their contemporaries (partly due to the effects of shotguns and heroin on other bands) while tracks like Alive, Jeremy and Even Flow are up there with Teen Spirit, Outshined and We Die Young as grunge classics.
