Horses, from which Gloria comes (but you knew that anyway) is one of those albums that everyone seems to own and herald as a classic, but no one ever actually seems to listen to. This is a criminal shame as Horses is phenomenal and Gloria is one of the standouts. Taking Van Morrison’s lyrics and re-arranging Them’s arrangement, Patti Smith turns Gloria into what I imagine Iggy Pop would sound like if he took Mogadon. While the snarl with which Patti Smith delivers this line is terrifying. Anyway, if you are one of those that haven’t played Horses for a while, then go and put it on once you have bought this Patti Smith T-shirt
