At the 1991 Isle of Man TT both Steve Hislop and Carl Fogarty had thrilled the Isle of Man TT faithfully aboard exotic fully tricked out factory Hondas , but this year was different. Sheared of Japanese factory support, Foggy was trying to wring the best from an aging Yamaha FZR OW01 while Hizzy turned up on what was widely considered a joke, a white rotary engine powered Norton. But what followed was the stuff of legend. Hizzy was struggling to tame the brutal Norton and Foggy�s Yamaha was falling apart around him, but nothing could stop the scrap so hard fought it would go down in TT folklore for evermore. Hislop�s White Charger finally edged victory by just over 4 seconds, following a stunning final lap record, to become the first British bike to win the Senior TT since Mike Hailwood�s Norton over 30 years earlier.
