“WHERE THE GRASS IS GREEN AND THE GIRLS ARE PRETTY”
Back in the late 80s, London had a record shop called ‘Shades’. Shades was no ordinary place – the staff all looked like rock stars, and in the days before the internet it was the only place in London to get imports. It was so special to all of us that used it, but what set its place in rock folklore was that they were the first people to get any Guns N’ Roses in the UK. Although “Welcome to the Jungle” was the first thing I heard, by the time the needle slid off after “Paradise City” at the end of side one, my world was changed forever.
