Now Green Day is a contentious issue..... All those old punks out there have been grumpily dismissing Green Day as no more than a pop band with no right to carry the punk banner, whilst millions champion them as true heroes. Well, despite being one of those old punks myself, they are wrong. Green Day have EVERY right to proclaim themselves as this generation’s lead punks. Don't get me wrong, I love Stiff Little Fingers, and Billie Joe will also be the first to acknowledge their influence, but the fact is, Green Day write better songs. So respect to Billie Joe.
