Sheene may be better known for his crashes and heroic comebacks than his riding, but that is to do the great man a disservice. Coming between Agostini and Roberts certainly made winning his two world titles a little easier, but that takes nothing away from his immense talent. A supremely confident and brave rider, history will certainly judge him favourably, but it is what he did for the sport as a whole for which he deserves the greatest recognition. Gone, but never, ever to be forgotten.
