My first memory of television was the image of �The Dandy Doctor� being chased through a maze of doors by a giant �bird�. It was January 1974. I was four years old. When I finally saw the episode again thirty years later of course the �bird� turned out to be a pterodactyl in �The Invasion of the Dinosaurs�. But it made me feel like a child again. Precisely what made Jon Pertwee�s Doctor so special: his childlike belief that anything is possible. My first hero (and Sarah-Jane Smith was my first love).
